Colorado Springs human trafficking investigation ends in arrest

Posted on 03/14/14

Officers of the Colorado Springs Police Department have arrested one man in connection to his alleged involvement in a juvenile prostitution ring. According to reports, police were first notified of the possibility in September of last year, after a father contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department claiming that his daughter may have been involved in prostitution.

Police began a human trafficking investigation into the claims and found that there were several underage girls being trafficked across the Front Range from Colorado Springs. Police arrested a 28-year-old man, alleging that he advertised the girls for commercial sex acts, transported them to the locations and received money. Police found two of the underage girls, but it was not made clear if the daughter of the man who gave the initial tip was ever involved with the 28-year-old.

The 28-year-old was arrested on suspicions of soliciting for child prostitution, inducement of child prostitution, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and procurement of a child. Where or in what situation the man was arrested was not immediately clear.

Charges of sex crimes can carry a certain stigma to begin with, but when underage individuals are also involved, the damage to a defendant’s reputation can be even greater. Any prior criminal history of sex crimes or other offenses may influence what type of criminal defense strategy is best in these types of situations. The advice of an experienced criminal defense attorney can prove invaluable in cases like this one, as building a strong defense is necessary to have the best chance at a positive outcome.
